Secured Storage for Controlled Substances - DEA Approved
Regulation 21 CFR Sections 1301.72 – 1301.76, within Title 21 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations concerning the storage and security of controlled substances, stipulates the following requirements for storing and securing Schedule III thru IV controlled substances:
o Doors must be self-closing and self-locking.
o Walls constructed of not less than No. 10 steel fabric with openings not more than 2 ½” across the square, mounted on steel posts, set no more than 10 feet apart, with horizontal reinforcement.
o Walls shall be mounted to posts at least 1” in diameter and lagged to the floor.
o Ceiling shall be made of same materials or erected to reach the structural ceiling of the building.
o Panels must mount flush to the floor.
o Heavy-duty hardware that is not accessible from the exterior.
